These cast iron boilers are simple to operate and are an extremely cost effective way of gaining central heating and hot water. They can be installed in to any open system and can burn all woods (including sawdust and chippings), coal, coke and peat.

All our multi fuel boilers are designed to burn softwood or hardwood between 15% and 20% moisture content. Any treated wood (creosote, paint), MDF or chipboard should not be used in our multi fuel boilers due to the carcinogenic emissions.

The Angus Max Cast Iron Boiler is a cost efficient way of gaining central heating and hot water. Made from corrosion resistant cast iron it is simple, but effective.

The Angus Max boiler is easy to control and has a large combustion chamber with easy access allowing the user to burn wood, coal, coke, briquettes and a variety of other solid fuels.

It has high combustion performance, excellent corrosion resistance and comes equipped with its own ash pit and cleaning tools. It is simple to control the primary air flow with the thermo-mechanical regulator, the secondary air flow with the air rosette and you can control the chimney draught through the manual chimney flap. The thermo manometer indicates the temperature and pressure indicator.

Fuel loading is easy and when fully loaded it will last typically between 4 to 8 hours. It is possible to run over night on tick over by closing down the air supply through the regulation hatch, the air rosette and the manual chimney flap. The opening/closing handles are covered with a rubber burning resistant material. The inlet/outlet on the back of the boilers are 2" female threads. Malleable iron can be plumbed straight into the inlet/outlets or if you want to use copper tubing you will need to purchase a 2" Bush x either 1.1/2" (42mm OD copper tube) 1/1/4" (35mm OD copper tube) or 1" (28mm OD copper tube) along with a male iron coupling. In an open vented system the Angus Evo will be primary vented on the hot water flow and secondary vented from the DHW cylinder. It is recommended that a thermo safety valve is fitted. In a pressurized system consideration should be given for an appropriately sized expansion vessel on the central heating circuit before the return to the boiler and a safety group on the primary flow. It is essential to ensure that the expansion vessel is sized accordingly to your system. It is recommended to use an expansion vessel that is 15% of the volume of water in your system including the primary water in the accumulator tank if applicable. An appropriately rated pressure relief valve should also be used in the safety group. On a pressurized system it is essential to use a safety heat exchanger with a thermal safety valve that we can offer to ensure the boiler has overheat protection installed. Please ensure you flush the system completely to avoid contamination on installation. Please ensure that you take precautions against freezing pipes (a frost stat arrangement is ideal) as this can lead to a cracked heat exchanger.

It is advisable to have a Hetas installer fit the boiler.
Please see http://www.hetas.co.uk/nearest_member.

We can not offer a guarantee on the product if self installed or by a non Hetas accredited installer and it is found schematically that the above recommendations have not been observed.

Expected running costs are less then half of that of gas or oil.
